The initiative uses Landsat satellite imagery (30-meter resolution) and pixel-by-pixel processing through artificial intelligence algorithms on the Google Earth Engine platform. With a historical series dating back to 1985, MapBiomas provides open and free spatial data infrastructure to support the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn more at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mapbiomas.org\">http:\/\/www.mapbiomas.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ABOUT THE MAPBIOMAS ALERTA INITIATIVE<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MapBiomas Alerta is an initiative that validates and refines deforestation alerts using medium- and high-resolution satellite imagery.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the MapBiomas Alerta platform, we publish alerts from various detection systems for all biomes in Brazil. We carry out the validation, refinement, and definition of a time window for each deforestation event, in addition to performing spatial cross-referencing with relevant territorial information (e.g., municipality, rural properties, protected areas, vegetation suppression authorizations, embargoes, etc.).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For each published alert, we make available a detailed ready-to-use report in an open and free way. <strong>The MapBiomas Alerta initiative publishes any and all loss of native vegetation, without assessing the legality, regularity, or responsibility for the suppression of vegetation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>OUR PURPOSE<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To reveal the transformations of the Brazilian territory through science, with precision, agility, and quality, and to make knowledge about land cover and use accessible, in order to seek the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources, as a way to combat climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal of MapBiomas Alerta is to monitor and make public every event of deforestation or conversion of native vegetation in Brazil.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We emphasize that MapBiomas Alerta is not a deforestation alert detection system, but rather an effort to give certainty and enhance the usability and effectiveness of the alerts already generated by the various existing systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data produced is public and free of charge and can be accessed on the platform:&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/plataforma.alerta.mapbiomas.org\/\">https:\/\/plataforma.alerta.mapbiomas.org\/<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SOBRE O MAPBIOMAS O MapBiomas \u00e9 uma rede multi-institucional formada por universidades, ONGs e empresas de tecnologia que produz mapeamentos anuais de cobertura e uso da terra no Brasil.
